Choosing a robot mower for a sloped garden
DEVVIS service team · 2026-10-29 · 6 min read
Most slope problems are not about the motor. They are about traction on wet grass and about how the machine handles a boundary wire on a gradient. Before comparing area ratings, measure the steepest part of the lawn with an angle finder or a phone app, and note the surface: dense wet lawn needs more grip than dry meadow grass.
The second number is the mowing window. A robot working while the family is at home needs a lower noise level, typically under 60 dB(A), and a schedule that avoids early mornings. If the garden is empty during the day, a machine with a longer daily runtime is the better trade than a quieter one.
The third number is the size of the largest zone, not the total area. A garden split into several zones with narrow passages usually needs the multi-zone model even when the total is small, because the machine has to be carried or guided between areas.
Once those three numbers are settled, the model comparison becomes short. Our service team can check a specific garden layout against the current ISWARD range if you send a sketch with measurements and the location of the charging point.
